RAPID NOTIFY SYSTEM is a software application used to send emergency alert notifications and updates to a large number of people.  The sytem is capable of simultaneously sending an alert to thousands of people over communication platforms such as email, telephone, cell phone, SMS text message, pager and PDA.  Mass notification systems are typically used to issue voice or text message alerting response personnel to the presence of the emergency as well as instructing residents of specific areas on how best to reduce their risk of harm in potentially life threatening situations.  Rapid Notify may be used to alert you in situations such as:  Large Fires, Chemical Spills, Contaminated Water, Evacuation Notices, Severe Weather, Police Activity.

NOTE:  If you are previously registered on the County's prior system called Hunterdon County Community Alert Network (HC CAN), please re-register on this sytem to ensure we have the current information on file for you.  To register follow the    link:http://www.co.hunterdon.nj.us?rapidnotify.htm

Stay safe during Hurricane cleanup.  SAFETY TIPS to prevent unintential poisoning during the cleanup process from the NJ Poison Control Center:  1.  Do not use gasoline powered washers or generators in the basement, home or garage.  Gasoline powered equipment releases large amounts of carbon monoxide increaing the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.  2.  NEVER MIX cleaning products such as ammonia and bleach or other disinfectants.  3.  Use bleach to clean mold off hard things (floors, stoves, sinks, certain toys, countertops, flatware, plates, and tools).  Mix no more than 1 cup of bleach in 1 gallon of water.  4.  When working with cleaning products, wear rubber boots, rubber gloves, goggles, and when necessary, a mask to prevent skin and respiratory irritation.  5.  Open windows and doors to get fresh air when using cleaning products.  6.  Wash hands routinely and thoroughly to prevent infection.  Wash all clothing worn during cleanup in hot water separate from the laundering of routine clothing.  7.  Take things that were wet for two (2) or more days and place them outside the home to be cleaned or thrown away.

Help is just a phone call away.  The NJ Poison Control Center experts were available around the clock during the hurricane and remain available
