2010 Council Meetings Schedule

The High Bridge Council meets on the second and fourth Thursday of every month. All meetings are open to the public and any issue or topic may be addressed during the 'visitors' portion of the meeting. Everyone is cordially invited to participate. The Council meetings are listed on the High Bridge Community Events Calendar for your convenience.

2010 Council Committee Assignments

1st Department - Emergency Services and Educational
Responsible for being a liaison to the High Bridge Police Department, High Bridge Fire Department, High Bridge Rescue Squad, and Office of Emergency Management (OEM). Responsible for schools, libraries, and general public education. Responsible chair is liaison to the Board of Education and liaison to the North Hunterdon Municipal Court.

Assisting: Tom Flynn (Education Liaison), Dean Rapp  

2nd Department - Public Health, Environmental, Solid Waste/Recycling, Open Space
Responsible for public health, environmental concerns, refuse and garbage, recycling, and public assistance. Recommends to Borough Council, Boards and Committees methods and projects to improve the quality of life by reducing pollution, creating open space, and stewarding ecology and health. Responsible for acquiring and management of Borough open space. Responsible chair is liaison to the Environmental Commission, as well as the Solid Waste/Recycling Liaison to State and County.

3rd Department – Information & Development and Culture and Heritage
Responsible for economic development, grants, and donations. Responsible as liaison to merchant, commercial and industrial interests. In addition the department is responsible for the preparation and dissemination of borough information including press releases, newsletters, and Internet communication. Responsible chair is liaison to the Cultural and Heritage Committee.

4th Department - Public Works and Recreation
Responsible for public works administration, and utilities such as water and sewer. Responsible for public works and building maintenance personnel. Accountable for enforcing compliance to Borough and State ordinances regarding the quality of residential and commercial property maintenance, preservation and upkeep. Responsible for active and passive recreation, cultural matters, special events. Accountable for playgrounds and playing fields, their maintenance and improvements.

5th Department - Planning and Engineering
Responsible for all Borough planning, engineering, infrastructure remediation, ADA compliance, affordable housing and growth management. Historical monuments, public buildings and their maintenance. Interacts and reviews projects associated with the Borough engineer and is a member of the Borough Planning Board.Recommends improvements of public buildings and grounds to public works administration and finance departments.

6th Department - Finance, Golf & Community Advisory Board
Responsible for arranging the Borough's yearly financial budget, overseeing and controlling departmental budgets including operating and capital expenditures, salary and wage recommendations, loans, deferments, appropriations, insurance, legal spending and other Borough fiscal concerns.

7th Department - Executive Services
Responsible for matters of general concern to the Borough of High Bridge. These include municipal finances, Borough planning, legal issues and cost control, economic development, informational activities and general administrative staff policy, including ethics, personnel issues, and wage and salary negotiations. In addition the Mayor acts as a liaison between State and Federal government as well as other municipalities.
